Suzanne Delaurentiis - Biography

Producers: Month of Sundays

Suzanne DeLaurentiis hung her own shingle in 1982, motivated to do well by doing good. In an industry dominated by cutthroat tactics and inflated egos, her goal seemed atypical: to produce the films she wanted to do while creating a work atmosphere where people were nice to each other. Beginning in low-budget horror films (her first love), she also wrote, directed and produced documentaries for the American Cancer Society, won a Clio Award for a series of anti-drug PSA's and shepherded myriad commercials and music videos. In the realm of feature film, the company bowed with low-budget suspense thriller Brothers By Blood, followed by the Canadian sitcom My Lovely Bank and the pilot Twin Towers and an ambitious remake of Dark Shadows.

Through the 90's, Suzanne DeLaurentiis Productions aimed at audiences young and old with such projects as the children's karate film Skate Dragons, the youth action adventure Pocket Ninjas and the horror flick Mutant Man. More recently the company produced The Vegas Connection starring Robert Carradine, Ed McMahon, Tom Smothers and Mamie Van Doren: the suspense drama Out of the Black, starring Sally Kirkland, Dee Wallace-Stone and Sally Struthers; and Jocks, a television pilot starring Steve Garvey. Suzanne DeLaurentiis, is known for her innovative style and efforts to provide a leg-up to film school graduates and other first-timers which directly ties into the film festivalÕs mission.
