The latest feature-length documentary by award-winning filmmaker Jocelyn Ajami, is the first American film portrait of Gypsy dance legend Carmen Amaya (1913-1963), who brought the fury and grit of Flamenco "puro" to the international stage. Born in poverty, she began dancing at the age of four on the streets of Barcelona. She became a star of Spanish Cinema, the darling of Broadway and Hollywood, and the woman who revolutionized the art of Flamenco dance. The film spans her life through archival footage, vintage photographs, and interviews with family members, company dancers and scholars.
