Much loved curmudgeon Max Harris, the self-exiled owner of Allies Diner, is unexpectedly forced to confront past mistakes and events when he decides to reopen a vintage gas station in sleepy Cholame, California, the infamous home of James Dean's fatal crash. Life takes a quirky turn when a movie crew arrives to shoot a misguided version of the James Dean Story, and a magazine reporter from LA begins to uncover a dark secret that Max has kept hidden for over forty years.
