THE PALM BEACH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL KICKS OFF THE NEW YEAR WITH NEW STAFF, NEW BOARD MEMBERS...NEW CONCEPTS

(January 7, 2002) - Now in it's 7th year, the Palm Beach International Film Festival (PBIFF) is strengthening their commitment to Palm Beach County. The Annual Film Festival's primary goal has always been to enhance and build film study programs within the county's schools. Secondly, to develop Palm Beach as a world-class location for filmmakers.

Beginning this year, they will increase this effort and deepen their commitment to the Palm Beach County community. Their goal is to provide additional financial assistance to schools, throughout the year, by developing year round cultural events. Increase film production in Palm Beach by developing year-round relationships with the film industry and offering student internships for film production in Palm Beach County. Increase tourism through building awareness of the Annual Film Festival events both nationally and locally.

To accomplish this goal, The PBIFF has brought in local South Florida professionals, with expertise in film and special events and who have established relationships within the film industry.

The PBIFF has appointed Randi Emerman as Executive Director of the festival. Ms. Emerman, formerly Director of Marketing for Muvico Theaters, has had over 15 years experience in the field of motion picture and theatrical event marketing. In addition, she is deeply involved in Large Format theaters. As a former PBIFF Board Member since the festival's inception, Randi also knows the festival's history and the Palm Beach community.

Other appointments include: Jan Mitchell and Associates for festival marketing. Proprietor of the company, Jan Mitchell, has been involved in all facets of motion picture marketing throughout Florida for over 20 years. In addition, she has worked in various capacities with film festivals and other major motion picture events.

Alan Elrod, formerly of Wometco Theaters and a leader in American and International film booking for various theaters, has been selected to secure top of line films for PBIFF.

To date the PBIFF, a not for profit organization, has provided $330,000.00, in the form of grants and scholarships, to Palm Beach County High Schools and Colleges which has helped provide new technologies the schools need for optimal learning.
