The 8th annual Student Showcase of Films received an all time high of 147 entries, breaking the 2002 record of 134 entries. To honor these outstanding students and their films, the PBIFF hosted an awards ceremony held Monday, April 7, 2003 at the Palm Beach Community College Eissey Theatre in Palm Beach Gardens. The top three winners in the Florida High School, Community College, and University categories received awards totalling over $7,500.

This years Student Showcase of Films was hosted by Actor Al Sapienza, who starred in the 2002 fests opening night film "A Month of Sundays", and was directed by Actor/Director/Teacher Bob Carter.
In addition, the festival also hosted a Student Showcase of Films Industry Panel Seminar. Guest speakers included several attending filmmakers and featured discussions about acting, directing, writing, producing, scoring, marketing and distributing film and television productions by several attending filmmakers. Panelists included: producer of "A Ribbon of Dreams" - Anita Chang, writer and producer of "BachelorMan" - Rodney Lee Conover, director of "Bachelorman" - John Putch, music composer of "Coney Island Baby" - Ryan Shore, and writer/director of "Killing Pedro Rivera" - Austin Stark.
The winning student films were screened on Tuesday evening, April 8, at Crown Abacoa 16 & Odyssey in Jupiter, FL. Students had the fantastic opportunity to view their movie on the big screen with an audience.
